Executive Committee

Kofi Kumi President

Mr. Kumi is responsible for operations and execution of the HRKCAA's day-to-day affairs including relationship management, organizational development and fund-raising. He previously held the position of Director of Alumni-Student Relations on the Executive Committee (2004-2005). Prior to joining the HRKCAA, Mr. Kumi held the offices of President (2002-2003) and Senior Captain (2003-2004) of the HRKC and was responsible for leading the HRKC through an important transition period. Currently, he is a Research Associate with Epic Therapeutics. He holds an Honors A.B. degree in Chemistry from Harvard College and kendo shodan.

Hyun-Sup Byun Treasurer

Mr. Byun performs various budgeting and financial planning duties for the HRKCAA. Prior to joining the HRKCAA, Mr. Byun held the offices of Equipment Manager (1998-1999), President (1999-2000), Junior Captain (1999-2000) and Senior Captain (2000-2001) within the HRKC. Currently, he is a Senior Associate with The Carlyle Group, and in the past has held various positions in investment banking at Evercore Partners and Citigroup/Salomon Smith Barney. He holds an A.B. cum laude degree in Applied Mathematics from Harvard College and kendo shodan.

Kentaro Fujita Secretary
Director of Curriculum Development
General Manager, New York Branch

Mr. Fujita is primarily responsible for -- in consultation with the HRKC's Head Coach -- the development and implementation of a curriculum of kendo instruction within the HRKC. Additionally, he maintains the operational record and histories of the HRKC and HRKCAA and is head of the New York branch of the Alumni Association. Prior to joining the HRKCAA, Mr. Fujita held the office of Vice-President (1999-2000) within HRKC and was the HRKC's first elected Senior Captain. Currently, he is a PhD candidate in New York University's Department of Psychology and still practices kendo three times a week. He holds an Honors A.B. degree in Psychology from Harvard College and kendo sandan.

Jenny Jin Director of Alumni-Student Relations

Ms. Jin serves as the primary Alumnus advisor to the HRKC. Prior to joining the HRKCAA, Ms. Jin held the offices of VP Shoryuhai (2003-2004), President (2004-2005), and Co-Captain (2005-2006) within the HRKC. Currently, she is an Associate with Close Concerns, Inc. She holds an Honors A.B. degree in Chemistry from Harvard College.

Jeffrey Kurashige Director of Japanese Affairs

Mr. Kurashige is the HRKCAA's voice in Japan. Prior to joining the HRKCAA, Mr. Kurashige was a veteran member of the HRKC (1997-2000). Currently, he is a PhD candidate in Harvard University's Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations, focusing on Japanese medieval history. He holds an Honors A.B. degree in East Asian Studies (Japanese Studies) from Harvard College.

Jang Ho Yoon Director of Friends Affairs

Mr. Yoon is the voice of the Friends within the HRKCAA. Since 1995, Mr. Yoon has been involved with the HRKC and is one of its most respected members. Currently, he is retired and practices with the HRKC every week. He holds a B.S degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Boston University and kendo sandan.
